Course description: Course objectives:
The goal of this course is to introduce the modern methods and tools for managing the design process, the information flow and the organization of teamwork. The students have to be able to apply current methods and computer tools for supporting complex and long lasting projects in environments and conditions of concurrent engineering and global product development. Special emphasis is put on efficiency of using CAD and PDM/PLM systems.

Enrolment requirements and required entry competences for the course:
No prerequisites

Student responsibilities:
Lecture and exercise attendance. For final grade student have to pass preliminary written exam and present the seminar on particular issue from literature.

Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
One preliminary written exam during the lectures, assessment of presentation of seminar work, assessment of student activity during the seminars and lectures.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):

to plan and lead the tasks within the complex and long lasting product development projects in environment of concurrent engineering, team working and geographically dislocated participants.
to select and use contemporary methods and tools for improving the design and product development processes.
to integrate and apply the knowledge gathered previously in Design Theory, Product Development and CAD courses towards application on examples of complex processes from current engineering practice.
to evaluate and present the state of the art in research of design process improvement
to evaluate the market offer of computer tools and information systems and to select the appropriate tool for various aspects and issues in project management and complex production systems.
