Course description: Introduction to the Croatian language groups outside Croatia. Students will learn about Croatian idioms in Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Italia, Serbia, Montenegro and a sociolect of the Janjevci Croats in Bulgaria. After acquiring theoretical and analytical framework, students will locate these idioms in the frameworks of Croatian dialectology. Based on the example of certain idioms which have been disappearing, the phenomenon of the language death is being introduced.
