Course description: Electromechanical energy conversion fundamentals. Electrical machine elements. Generation of electromotive force. Production of torque. Magnetomotive force (ampere-turns). Types of electrical machines.
Commutator machine: Fundamentals. Windings. Armature reaction. Commutation. Types of excitation. Load characteristics. Supplying.
Transformers: Principle of operation. State equations. Phasor diagram. Equivalent circuit. Power, measuring (instrument) and special transformers. Transformer losses. No load operation. Short circuit operation. Voltage drop, voltage regulation. Autotransformer. Winding connections and parallel operation. Heating and cooling. Transformer on load.
