Course description: Measuring values in power system protection. Protection fundamentals and basic design principles. Basic objectives and characteristics of protection systems. Principles of relay application and coordination. Protection of HV lines, transformers, generators, busbars and motors. Fault resistance. Distance protection performance under power-swing conditions. Auto-reclosing on HV networks. Algorithms in digital overcurrent, voltage and distance relays. Basic concepts of modern coordinated protection and control system in substations.
