Course description: Therefore, the knowledge in design and implementation of such systems from the idea to a functional device is the crucial component of electronic and computer engineering. This course covers their design together with various aspect of their implementation arising from particular applications. The course includes the following topics: Elements and architecture of an embedded system. Hierarchical structure. Controllers, processors and digital signal processors (DSP). Advantages of a DSP architecture for embedded applications. Integrated peripheral devices for applications in communication, multimedia, automation and control, consumer electronics. Optimization of hardware implementation, Special operating modes. Real time requirements. Hardware and software approach. System integration on chip. Examples of embedded systems.
