Course description:
Historical Performing Practice for Organ (91587 Getting to know a wide range of organ art from the development of the instrument itself, the specifics of the historical development of each European organ school, considering the construction of instruments, the work of prominent composers, specific organ music forms, stylistic way of registration, specifics of ornamentation in certain regions.. Theoretical characteristics of the interpretation of each European organ school with the inclusion of interdisciplinary knowledge so that the final interpretation reaches the artistic level of reproduction, with factual awareness and information. During the academic year, the following chapters are covered: 1. Historical development of the organ (from the 13th century - to the modern organ) - special types of organ (portable - positive - shelf) - baroque organ - organ development during the 19th Century - contemporary organ and finding ways of stylistically conscious interpretation on contemporary instruments 2. Organ in the Renaissance period 3. Italy (Historical overview - Most prominent composers - Specific organ music forms - Italian organ - Registration method Ornamentation - Characteristics of interpretation) 4. Spain and Portugal (with elaboration of all the above elements) 5. The Netherlands (with elaboration of all the above elements) 6. Northern Germany (with elaboration of all the above elements) 7. Southern Germany (with elaboration of all the above elements) 8. Central Germany and J. S. Bach (The most important organ builders - Bach's organ opus - Interpretation of Bach's music - Registration - Ornamentation - Bach's organ technique) 9. Romanticism in German organ music (organ construction in the Romantic period - organ literature of Romanticism) 10. France (with the elaboration of all the above elements - for the period from 1600 to 1800) Period from 1800 - 1900- - Organ music of French Romanticism - Organ opus of C. Franck) 11- England (with elaboration of all the above elements - Romanticism in English organ music) 12. Slavic countries (Czech Republic - Slovakia - Hungary - Croatia)

Learning outcomes:

1. The student becomes aware of the characteristics of interpretation, stylistic determinants and sound design in musical creation

2. Knowledge of a wide range of styles and developed individual and recognizable expression in a particular musical style, with an understanding of the interrelationships and interdependencies of practical and theoretical part of the study, and the application of acquired knowledge of knowledge of specific instruments and relevant literature for instrument types.
