Course description:
The course Explosion Protection is processing in two basic parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is aimed at gaining basic knowledge about explosion protection: the concept, historical development and structure of relevant line of work within the Ministry of the Interior, the General Police Directorate and as well as EU Member States; legal regulations governing the operation of explosion protection; the police actions in the event of a report of a suspicious object or explosion of an explosive device; the methodology of conducting the explosion inspection; evacuation in case of need; types and characteristics of explosives, military explosive devices and improvised explosive devices; securing the location of a suspicious object or the location of an explosive device explosion. Special attention is paid to the cooperation of different services and lines of work in this area. The practical part is aimed at acquiring the skills of finding and recognizing a suspicious object during an explosion examination and securing the place where the suspicious object was found or the place where the explosive device exploded.

Learning outcomes:

1. To define the basic concepts and activity of explosion protection and tactics of action in case of notification, discovery and explosion of an explosive device

2. To Identify and explain the type, structure, parts, mode of action and danger of explosives and military explosive devices

3. To Identify and explain the structure, parts, mode of action and danger of improvised explosive devices

4. To define and explain the importance, types and methods of conducting explosion inspections

5. To define and explain the reasons, types and methods of evacuation in case of notification or discovery of an explosive device

6. To apply the acquired knowledge of securing the location of the discovery of suspect objects and the scene of explosive ordinance explosions.
