- Course description:
- This course aims to acquire knowledge and understanding of the basic and modern security processes of the European Union, Europe, and the international community, as directly i.e. nearer and further security environment of the Republic of Croatia. A special focus is on the study of processes and conditions that are important for the national security of the Republic of Croatia. The focus of the objectives of this course are global security challenges and threats such as transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism and illegal migration that are studied in the context of international security institutions (UN, NATO, Europol, Interpol), but also as key elements of security policies and EU internal and external security institutions, including the police and security - intelligence structures.

- Learning outcomes:
1. To recognize and define the basic terms: European security, EU security, international security, institutionalization, common security and defense policy of the EU, etc.
2. To analyse the components of the security policy of the European Union and the role of institutions in achieving European and international security (UN, EU, NATO, Interpol, OSCE, Europol, etc.)
3. To present the analysed units of the European and international security system
4. To relate European and international security mechanisms, challenges and threats with the national security of the Republic of Croatia
5. To analyse European and international security situation, comparing the results of research and monitoring by different organizations
6. To anticipate possible risks from various threats to European and international security
