- Course description:
- Acquiring knowledge related to the treatment of real augmented chords, enharmonic modulations and Neapolitan sextachord in classical vocal four-part texture. Familiarization with the treatment of non-chord tones in tonality music. Mastering the skill of harmonic analysis of compositions from the romantic era. Mastering the skill of creating more complex tasks in the sense of harmonizing given basses and sopranos and creating modulation movements in a chromatically extended tonality. Content according to the class schedule: 1. Chromatic, repetition. Creation of tasks. Harmonic analysis. 2. Neapolitan sixth chord. 3. Modulations using the Neapolitan sixth chord. 4. Augmented 6 chord, 6-5 chord and 4-3 chord. 5. Enharmonic modulations in general. Enharmonic modulations using augmented 6 chord, 6-5 chord, and 4-3 chord. 6. Diminished seventh chord. Enharmonic modulations using diminished 7 chord. 7. Enharmonic modulations using the augmented fifth chord. 8. Harmonic analysis. Fragments from compositions by Chopin, Wagner, R.Strauss. The expressive role of harmony. 9. Some variants of altered chords. 10. Non-chord tones. Role and division. 11. Suspensions. Appoggiatura. 12. Passing and alternating tones, anticipations, pedal tone. 13. Harmonic analysis. Non-chord tones in the compositions of the romantic period. 14. Practicing tasks for the exam. 15. - Learning outcomes:
1. Define and explain the concepts of the Neapolitan sixth chord, enharmonic modulations and real augmented chords and apply this knowledge to the harmonization of given sopranos and basses.
2. Apply knowledge on enharmonic modulations to the compopsing of modulation movements using enharmonic changes of the diminished seventh chord.
3. Do the harmonic analysys of music examples from the Romantic period.
4. Synthetise musical-analytical, aesthetic and technical knowledge and skills on the instrument with the performance of the work.
5. Connect the acquired knowledge and skills with own artistic ideas.
6. Apply the acquired knowledge and skills to a distinctive stylistic performance in public performance.
