Course description:
Getting to know the students: - with the basic concepts of ethnomusicology as a science, that is, with basic ethnomusicological ideas and concepts, and (historical) definitions and history of the discipline. - with the history and paradigmatic changes of Croatian ethnomusicology - with the relationship of ethnomusicology to related disciplines and their theoretical and methodological foundations.

Learning outcomes:

2. - determine the place of ethnomusicology in the system of science and in relation to other (related) scientific disciplines

3. - acquire knowledge about the history of ethnomusicology: the main directions and achievements of ethnomusicological research from the 19th century to the present day, in the context of historical, social and political circumstances and technological development

4. - get to know the history and paradigms as well as prominent institutions and researchers of Croatian ethnomusicology

5. - be able to contextualize Croatian ethnomusicology within the framework of European and other ethnomusicologies

6. - be able to define ethnomusicology as a science and determine the subjects of ethnomusicological research
