- Course description:
- Getting to know the students: - with an overview and specifics (research) of Croatian traditional music by region - with contemporary processes in traditional and popular music on the example of Dalmatian klapa singing - with the basic practical, methodological and ethical principles of field research work.

- Learning outcomes:
1. After fulfilling the obligations in the semester, the student will: - get acquainted with the wider context and examples of ethnomusicological research on Croatian traditional music
2. - acquire knowledge of traditional music, traditional instruments and dances, characteristic of specific Croatian areas/regions
3. - recognize and determine changes in traditional musical idioms, created under the influence of popular music genres
4. - adopt the basic principles of ethnomusicological fieldwork, acquiring initial knowledge and practice for independent research and collection of traditional musical material
5. - aurally recognize musical examples from various Croatian regions
