Course description:

Playing more technically demanding etudes. Correct performance of more difficult polyphonic compositions (French and English suites, preludes and fugues). Correct interpretation of classical style compositions (sonatas in their entirety). Applying systematic practice methods when learning compositions by different authors.

Mandatory literature:

J. S. Bach, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, C. Czerny, M. Clementi, H. Berens, F. Mendelssohn, R. Schumann, F. Chopin, P. I. Čajkovski, S. Prokofjev, D. Kabalevski itd.: etudes, inventions of three voices, French and English suites, preludes and fugues,sonatas, rondos, pieces of various composers of 19th and 20th century, compositions of Croatian composers

Learning outcomes:

1. Analyze and interpret different components of a musical work such as musical form, harmonic and polyphonic component.

2. to be able playing polyphony with two voices

3. knowledge of structural forms in formas of sonata, rondos or variations

4. know how to use different ways of practice studying various compositions

5. knowledge of interpretation of various styles-music of 19th and 20th century

6. Harmonize tonal melodic lines on the piano.

7. Work as an associate in primary and secondary schools' extracurricular music activities.

8. Work as an associate in conducting choirs and instrumental ensembles.

9. Play music scores of choral and orchestral compositions on the piano.

10. Play the piano to accompany moderately demanding choral, instrumental or singing compositions.
