Course description:
Acquiring the basic concepts related to the correct holding of the mandolin. Acquiring facts related to the tuning of mandolin strings, the interval relationship between them. Mastering the fundamental skills of the right hand on free strings. Ability to play unison examples on all strings in first position. 1st lesson: Getting to know the instrument. Setting the correct position of the body, left and right hand. Exercises for the right hand on empty (open) strings - downstroke, upstroke and alternating, arpeggio over 2, 3 and 4 strings 2nd lesson: Correct placement of the left hand, simple exercises in the first position. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th lesson: Work on literature: given and a vista examples, mastering the grip in the first position. 7th, 8th lesson: Work on literature (assigned and a vista). Chamber music - baroque duets and trios. Playing in the baroque style, relaxing the right hand, changing the color of the tone - tasto, naturale, ponticello. 9th, 10th, 11th lesson: Creation of baroque duets and trios. Examples of a vista. Tremolo technique. Lesson 12, 13: Creating an example with tremolo. Romantic duets 14th and 15th lesson: Creation of selected compositions for the exam

Learning outcomes:

1. recognize and play all the notes on the mandolin finger in the first position

2. master right hand techniques (downstroke, alternating and tremolo)

3. be able to independently tune the mandolin

4. Analyse and interpret different components of a musical work such as musical form, harmonic and polyphonic component.

5. Create methodological topics, theoretical and practical, for the classes Music Culture, Music Art and Solfeggio.

6. Make music arrangements for a mandolin quintet, mandolin orchestra and tamburitza orchestra.

7. Work as an associate in primary and secondary schools' extracurricular music activities.

8. Work as an associate in conducting choirs and instrumental ensembles.

9. Aurally recognise musical artwork with regard to the historical period of origin and stylistic characteristics.

10. Play harmonic accompaniment on guitar.
