- Course description:
- Acquiring knowledge about the development of musical creativity in Croatian countries during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries; familiarization with the guidelines of the Croatian folk revival and its echo in the musical field (Vatroslav Lisinski and Illyrian composers); achieving awareness of the musical life of Split and Zadar in the 19th century, and the changes that occurred in the north of Croatia under the influence of the Illyrian movement; adoption of facts related to the restoration of the national musical direction in the period between the two world wars; familiarization with events in music production and reproduction in the second half of the 20th century.

- Learning outcomes:
1. After passing the exam, the student will be able to describe the most important phenomena in the field of musical art in Croatia in the 18th century (Franciscan music), 19th and 20th centuries.
2. Analyse and interpret different components of a musical work such as musical form, harmonic and polyphonic component.
3. Create and carry out the entire teaching activities for the named subjects.
4. Explain and organize the results of research in writing.
5. Apply basic methods of music analysis and scholarly work in practice and in writing academic papers.
6. Work as a music editor in various media.
7. Independently create teaching units for the subjects Music Culture (in primary school), Music Art (in secondary school) and Solfeggio (in primary music school).
8. Aurally recognise musical artwork with regard to the historical period of origin and stylistic characteristics.
