Course description:
The aim of the course is to learn basic intonation and rhythmic concepts. Learning facts related to tonality system. Mastering the basic skills of musical dictations with regard to diatonic tonality with alterations, emphasized melodic thinking and the beginning of vertical awareness of tonal relations.

Learning outcomes:

1. aurally identify basic intonation and rhythmic concepts (intervals, quintachords and turns);

2. aurally recognize and record a lighter monophonic musical example of a diatonic tonal context with non-chordal alterations.

3. aurally recognize and record lighter homophonic two-voice example;

4. aurally recognize and write a three-part lighter example of the homophonic type;

5. aurally recognize both the syllable and the position of the major and minor quintachords in the quadruplet.

6. Analyse and interpret different components of a musical work such as musical form, harmonic and polyphonic component.

7. Harmonise tonal melodic lines on the piano.

8. Interpret the goals and tasks of different forms of music teaching.

9. Create methodological topics, theoretical and practical, for the classes Music Culture, Music Art and Solfeggio.

10. Sing, prima vista, a demanding tonal example.

11. Recognise and characterise auditory musical examples of folk music from different parts of Croatia.

12. Make music arrangements for a mandolin quintet, mandolin orchestra and tamburitza orchestra.

13. Work as an associate in primary and secondary schools' extracurricular music activities.

14. Work as an associate in conducting choirs and instrumental ensembles.

15. Aurally recognise musical artwork with regard to the historical period of origin and stylistic characteristics.

16. Aurally reconstruct and record tonal musical examples of single-, two-, three- and four-voices.
