Course description:

Continuation of acquiring basic knowledge about organs, their historical development and different schools of construction and types of musical instruments. A reflection on world trends in organ-making and organ-making in the Croatian environment through history to the present day. Expanding knowledge about the use and combinations of registers with the aim of providing adequate sounding of the score. Independence and creative use of the coloristic and interpretative possibilities of the organ during the performance and interpretation of solo and chamber works. Upgrade of manual and pedal playing technique with the use of blinds and crescendo roller. Familiarity with fundamental world and Croatian organ (soloist and liturgical) literature. Popularization of organ music and organ playing. Content according to the class schedule: 1st week (4 hours of classes). Lecture "Metamorphosis of organ sound and expression through history". 2nd week - 4th week: (2 hours of lectures, 4 hours of exercises): Practical tour and demonstration of previously adopted techniques and learned compositions on several famous organs in Split and its surroundings. 3rd week - 15th week (8 hours of lectures in terms of approaching the technical and stylistic essence of the selected literature, 12 hours of exercises): practice with work on stylistics and interpretation of selected compositions of a suitable level of difficulty (see list of literature).

Learning outcomes:

1. Expansion of the technical-musical domain of organ skills, considering the new level of literature, along with familiarization with the historical conditions of origin and spatio-temporal representation and dissemination of characteristic organ forms.

2. Get to know the Croatian historical and contemporary organ literature.

3. Learn more about the laws and possibilities of the organ as a soloist and/or accompanying instrument, especially as part of liturgy.

4. Raise awareness about the preservation, restoration and promotion of organ heritage in the Republic of Croatia.

5. Cooperate on joint projects.
