Course description:
Acquiring knowledge about the approach to the conservation-restoration processing of metal objects by specialties within the profession (art crafts, ethnographic objects, weapons, archaeological metal). Preparation of extensive documentation of planned and/or performed conservation and restoration procedures. An additional focus lies on the exhibition and presentation possibilities of the restored objects.

Learning outcomes:

1. Describe the current state of cultural property.

2. Design a theoretical concept of action (elaboration of protection) for less demanding objects.

3. Knows the basic research methods of natural science research of cultural assets.

4. Comprehend the original technologies of creation of individual cultural assets.

5. Comprehend the most important processes of deterioration of individual cultural assets.

6. Recognise and diagnose basic conservation and restoration problems.

7. Accept teamwork.

8. Collect relevant theoretical information related to a specific conservation-restoration problem.

9. Notice the features of the process of deterioration of individual cultural property and understand the main causes of their occurrence.

10. Be able to interpret the results of natural science research.

11. Be able to coordinate basic natural science research.

12. Master basic historical art and iconographic knowledge.
