Opis predmeta:: Cilj kolegija je doći do poznavanja rimskih religijskih običaja, propisa i svećenstva, pregleda osobina i oblika štovanja glavnih božanstava te viđenja razvoja religije od onoga što se zna o izvornoj rimskoj do kršćanstva preko različitih utjecaja iz Grčke i s istoka. Naglasak će biti postavljen na izvorne aspekte rimske religije te na njenu povezanost s drugim onodobnim religijama. Tražit će se usporednice u grčkoj religiji, ali i u religijama Male Azije te Etruščana. Bit će riječi i o antičkim kultovima na tlu Hrvatske. Polazište usporedbe bit će pojedina božanstva. Seminar uključuje čitanje odabranih tekstova klasičnih autora vezanih uz obrađivane teme. Studentske obaveze uključuju: pohađanje nastave, pripremu odabranih tekstova i izlaganje obrađenog mita, te ispit nakon odslušanog semestra. Purpose of this course is to become acquainted with Roman religious customs and regulations, with priests, devotion to major deities, taking into account the findings about original Roman beliefs and the influences from Greece and the Orient. The focus will be put on the religious year and the mythological stories that form the inevitable part of Roman literature. Parallels in the Greek, Illyrian and other Indo-European, Mediterranean, and Etruscan religion will be mentioned. Seminar includes reading the selection of text and preparing a presentation of a particular myth. Students are required to: prepare the texts, present the given myth and pass the exam after the semester is over.
